Troy F. Tatting

McSweeney/Langevin attorney Troy Tatting is a veteran mass tort lawyer. He has represented tens of thousands of clients and helped them recover hundreds of millions of dollars in his career. Troy has extensive litigation experience, having represented both injured individuals and Fortune 500 companies in multi-million dollar lawsuits across the United States. Over the past few decades, Troy has fought for justice for people injured by no fault of their own at the hands of the world’s largest corporations.
His vast legal experience includes having represented thousands of victims of the opioid epidemic, thousands of sexual abuse survivors, hundreds of employees subject to discrimination, and whistleblowers who have exposed corporate fraud. Troy has struck back against corporate misbehavior and a lack of adequate safety practices. He has won large class action lawsuits against national and multi-national companies. Troy has experience with cases that have gone to the United States Supreme Court, as well as local state level Supreme Courts. He has been involved in massive complex trials, including being part of an Alabama trial team that resulted in a black box warning for a popular smoking cessation drug and a massive multi-million dollar global settlement for victims of the company’s failure to warn.
Troy has significant trial and deposition experience. He has taken depositions and been a part of court proceedings across the United States and abroad, including places such as Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin, and abroad in Canada and the United Kingdom. Troy has represented clients from every state in the nation.

Residing in Minnesota, Troy has served on various boards, including homeless shelters that help survivors of domestic violence and a local youth basketball organization, where he also helps coach in his free time.

He completed externships with a federal judge in Connecticut and with an appellate prosecutor clinic where he argued before the Connecticut Court of Appeals. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota (2001).
Outside of work, Troy enjoys spending time with his family, his friends, and serving in his local community. He also enjoys golf, basketball, outdoor activities, and traveling.
